The Secret guide on how to save up to 50% on Hotel Bookings

1 - Early Booking Reservations

Most hotels have price structures based on demand. The higher the demand for specific dates, the higher the price will be on those dates. When you book 3-6 months in advance, you can benefit from rates that are 20-50% lower than if you were to book just a month in advance.

2 - Vouchers

Before finalizing your reservation, look for vouchers or promotional codes that can be applied to obtain an additional discount. New customers on Booking.com receive a 5% discount on their reservation (2023). If you are enrolled in the Genius program, you receive an additional 10% discount on your booking. Genius Level 3 customers receive a 20% discount on their booking. After you book a room through Booking.com, they may also send you a 10% credit voucher that you can use for future bookings. These costs are borne by Booking.com and are designed to keep customers on their site.

3 - Be Flexible with Dates

If you have flexibility in choosing your travel dates, try selecting different check-in and check-out dates to see if you can obtain lower rates. Check out our guide on how to book a room on Booking.com

4 - Avoid Weekends

The most expensive hotel nights are from Thursday to Saturday, inclusive. The cheapest hotel nights, on average, are from Sunday to Wednesday, inclusive.

5 - Look for All-Inclusive Packages

Packages that include accommodation, meals, and other amenities can be more financially advantageous.

6 - Ask

Don’t hesitate to ask if you can get a small additional discount if you book multiple rooms or for a longer duration (7 nights).

7 - Contact the hotels directly

Sometimes, bookings made directly with the hotel can be more advantageous than those made through booking sites. Travel agencies take a commission from guests, which they add to the price. Booking sites charge properties a commission of 15-20%, making reservations on partner sites more expensive. Check out our guide on how you can avoid extra costs from tourism agencies and sites like Booking.com

8 - Be friendly with the staff

Every good hotel tries to keep its guests in one way or another. Smaller hotels will build close friendships with guests and offer discounts to returning customers. Larger hotels may provide business cards at check-out. Some of these cards come with discount codes for your next booking.

9 - Don’t leave abusive reviews

Most hotels hire seasonal housekeepers and hotel receptionists who are fresh graduates looking for stable employment, and managers have a stressful time managing budgets and staff issues. These are the current conditions in the job market. If you feel the hotel could do better, you can leave a constructive and helpful review, but don’t criticize the staff abusively, as you could cause someone to lose their job or be banned from future bookings.
